Direct Routing Protocol

How information moves to the correct decision point.

Purpose.

Direct routing prevents information from being stopped at intake when it belongs with a role responsible for legislation, appropriations, disability access, interagency coordination, public systems, or implementation.

Packet fields.

  • Receiving office.
  • Subject category.
  • Requested action.
  • Relevant legal or program area.
  • Documents attached.
  • Routing instruction.
  • Follow-up date.

Escalation.

If the first office is not responsible, the packet asks for identification of the correct office rather than closure without routing.
